Jeff Stinco agreed in be volunteer for Opération Nez Rouge this year.
The organism was created because a lot of people were drinking and driving during this time of the year and then having car accident. So, you just have to call them and they send you someone to drive you home in your own car. It's really helped out in Quebec to reduce car accidents.
The original article is in french but thanks to Tanya you can read it in english right here on SPBrazil:
The organizers of Opération Nez Rouge Bellechasse can count on a huge increase in their recruiting mission to get more volunteers to escort people from December 5 to December 31, since Jeff Stinco, guitarist of the popular band Simple Plan, agreed to join the organization.
"They came to me to represent Nez Rouge in this part of Quebec, I think its a very important organization. I have to admit that I have called Opération Nez Rouge myself, because I love to party!" explained Stinco on a phone interview with La Voix du Sud.
"We (members of Simple Plan) always try to find ways to get involved in organizations that will help society. People close to us have been in car accidents, I think its logic to help them", mentioned Stinco, then he added that the band doesnt really have the chance to get involved in a specific province but more in national events. "We get too many requests that it would be too hard to handle."
Getting involved with Opération Nez Rouge Bellechasse is even more logical as the guitarist visits the area frequently since his wife came from Saint-Anselme. "Its been a couple years since Ive been in the Bellechasse area and Ill be there for two weeks during the holidays" he commented.
Used to massive international tours with his band (by the way, he was in London when we did the phone interview), the musican from Montreal didnt hide the fact that moving from big cities to rural areas is hard. "Switch from London or Dubaï to Bellechasse, is a big contrast. But I need it to get a rhythm which seems a bit normal in my life" he said.
Jeff Stinco wants to get deeply involved in the whole process of Opération Nez Rouge Bellechasse, he will be a volunteer for a night. "Ill be there one night to do a couple of escorts during the holidays" confirmed the guitarist.
Members of Simple Plan are also actively involved with young people in difficult situations since they created the Simple Plan Foundation. As Stinco explained to us, after the success they received with their single called Perfect many young fans wrote to them sharing their stories and problems.
Their social involvement can be seen by the help they provide to different groups and organizations who work for the youth with adolescent troubles. The band also give their support to several medical/social organizations dedicated to the well-being of sick or disabled children and also by promoting musical training in schools to help children to find their passion and achieve their goals in life.
Finally, the band will be at the Colisée Pepsi (in Quebec city) on December 20th to play an acoustic performance after fans watch the Quebec Remparts play a game.
